I've been a photographer for a little more than 16 years, 6 of those dedicated to micro weddings and elopements. I enjoy a good hike, a celebratory sammich and slobber kisses from my dog.
Jarrett + Johanna
Johanna and Jarrett’s engagement session took place at the Quaker area of Allegany State Park. The Quaker area is known for its two lakes and wonderful camping experiences. It offers a sandy beach for swimming, two fishing piers and a canoeing or kayaking access point. The many hiking trails give opportunities to explore the naturally formed caves, plus the diversity of plants and wildlife. Allegany’s mixed hemlock / hardwood forest, mountains, rolling hills and meadows, streams, ponds and lakes attract devoted outdoors enthusiasts year-round.
Johanna and Jarrett’s Story:
Johanna and Jarrett met a few years ago during a snowboarding trip. Jarrett was Johanna’s knight in shining armor during that time, helping her get down the slopes with ease, making sure she landed properly, and could glide smoothly to the bottom.
Johanna is much like me, I stick to the bunny hills and go as slow as I can. That hype speed nonsense is for experts and experts only!
Johanna in fact is the one that proposed to Jarret first! During the session she tells the story about how she just didn’t want to let him go and knew he was the one for her. And I agree! Just look at the two of them together!
Allegany is the perfect spot!
Allegany State Park holds a special place in their hearts. They dedicate a lot of time here throughout the year just to get away from the hustle and bustle of their daily lives. Sometimes, they even extend their time there and work from camp!
I can see why they love the park so much. It was my first time there and already I could understand why they are drawn to it. Even though the territory is off the main highway, it’s perfectly peaceful and quiet, with only the sounds of nature and other park go-ers.
Allegany is New York’s largest state park, surrounded by the Enchanted mountains, and it was the first major state park to knock off my bucket list! Johanna and Jarrett are especially keen on the Quaker Area, and Quaker Lake. It’s surrounded by stunning meadows and seasonal wildflowers, my creative heart felt like it would burst with joy!
Whats next for them?
Johanna and Jarret are planning to elope this year and plan to host their reception at the park. As the photographer in their corner, I truly hope their dreams come true!
